ESF FEEDS PASSIONS AND
POWERS SUPERHERO POTENTIAL!

Hi, my name is Steven Strauser, and I am the Site Director for ESF Camps at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy. Summer of 2026 will be my second summer as a Site Director with ESF Camps. I bring a strong background in leadership, training, and operations, with a passion for building high-performing teams and creating meaningful experiences. I graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership and earned my MBA from Eastern University. My career is centered on developing people, modeling servant leadership, and developing long lasting relationships.

Outside of ESF, I enjoy fly fishing, golfing, reading, and staying active at the gym. Throughout my life, I’ve had the opportunity to live in Philadelphia, New York City, and Los Angeles, each of which shaped my appreciation for diverse people, ideas, and experiences. Overall, my life’s calling is to help people get to where they are trying to go.

  • What do you love about working at ESF?
I love working with people that live their life for children and want to create as many impactful moments as possible. We have a saying that we are in the human development business and it’s true. I love developing leaders, building confidence in children, and shaping experiences. I also love the fact that I get to see the campers grow mentally, emotionally and athletically throughout the summer.
  • What is your favorite camp tradition?
Morning assemblies. It’s the moment where the entire camp comes together with excitement and focus. It sets the tone for the day and reminds everyone why we are here.
  • What is an ESF fun fact about you?
I scored a hole-in-one on a par 3 within my first two years of learning to play golf.
  • What is the most unique/interesting job you have had outside of ESF?
Before ESF, I worked in the franchise industry where I was a partner in starting, building and growing a franchise candy company throughout many different malls. It gave me a strong foundation in business development, communication, leadership and organizational growth.
  • What is your favorite quote?
“Discipline equals freedom.” Jocko Willink. It’s a reminder that structure and consistency create the space to perform at your best.
  • What is one of your guilty pleasures?
A combination of coffee flavored, and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream
  • If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Time travel! Visiting different eras would be pretty cool.
