Meet Calvin, Odessa, and Huntley!

We are thrilled to announce the winners of our Phillies Baseball Academy Giveaway, held in partnership with Nemours. After so many amazing students were nominated, our committee is excited to announce three outstanding young athletes have been selected to attend Phillies Baseball Academy for Summer 2024. Let’s meet our winners!

Calvin L.

Calvin started playing baseball at 7 years old and quickly fell in love with the sport, leading him to year-round play! The combination of his hard work, drive, and love for Phillies baseball—especially watching his favorite player, Bryce Harper—has propelled him forward in his game. Calvin is speedy around the bases and loves to steal at every opportunity. This summer, he plans to focus on developing his hitting and fielding skills while exploring a new interest in pitching.

Odessa D.

Odessa is a 6-year-old who enjoys watching Phillies games at home with her parents, John and Kristin. Despite being hard of hearing, Odessa fully embraces it and never lets it hold her back. She is currently learning Spanish in school, does gymnastics, and loves being outside with friends. Odessa’s enthusiasm and determination make her a standout both on and off the field.

Huntley R.

Huntley, standing 4 feet 6 inches tall, plays multiple positions including 1st base, shortstop, pitcher, and catcher. Right-handed and with a love for the color blue, Huntley has been featured on the cover of Delaware Hunting magazine for the past two years. He loves hunting, fishing, baseball, and working around the farm. Huntley has an older sister and a dog. After being diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome back in September, Huntley would like to thank the doctors at Nemours for getting him back on his feet.

We are proud of Calvin, Odessa, and Huntley for their achievements, perseverance, and dedication to baseball. And we love their love of the Phillies! This opportunity to train and experience Phillies Baseball Academy will be an amazing summer experience for the next generation of baseball “Phans” and stars!

The Phillies Baseball Academy Giveaway, in partnership with Nemours, provides young athletes with the chance to attend a premier baseball camp where they can develop their skills, learn from experienced coaches, and experience the excitement of the game in a supportive and fun environment. Phillies Baseball Academy is far more than just a week at camp. It is a place where new skills are developed, and old ones perfected. Our commitment to creating the most exciting and informative baseball experience is reflected in every aspect of our camp. Each one-week camp takes place at one of our great locations throughout the summer.

During each week, campers feel like real “Major Leaguers” as they take the field and learn from baseball’s best. Activities include fundamental station work, skills contests, scrimmages, and game action.

ESF Camps & Experiences has spent 40+ years designing summer experiences that develop the whole child. Our programs are built in partnership with Nemours Children’s Health and grounded in pediatric research on resilience, social-emotional learning, and child development.
