Did you know that one of the top ways that ESF finds team members is actually by hiring former campers? This year we welcomed back over two dozen campers to work for ESF as counselors at various sites! Unlike a lot of other organizations, we practice what we preach. We know that the values and virtues that we instill in each and every one of our campers serve our campers for life – that’s why we are so proud when our campers return to work for us and continue this mission to build impact for campers for years to come.

After their years as campers, the prospect of their return as staff members . Incorporating former campers into our staff brings a unique dimension to the team. Our alumni possess an inherent understanding of ESF’s core values and the enduring traditions that have been integral to our identity since 1982. The life skills cultivated through their camp experiences position these candidates to evolve into exceptional employees.

It became clearer every single day at camp this summer that our counselors who used to be campers are not just here because it’s another summer job, they are here because they love it here (as do all of our other counselors). They are passionate about camp, they build genuine relationships with the campers and team members, and act as leaders at their respective sites.
