Popsicle Stick Monsters Craft

10.17.2017

One of our most anticipated camp traditions is Masquerade Day – a chance for campers to wear their favorite costumes before the fall season begins.

Now that the fall season is upon us, we want to give you the chance to celebrate with one of the arts and crafts projects the campers created this summer, Popsicle Stick Monsters! This super simple craft is a great way to get your campers excited for Halloween and a fun way to decorate the house.

Easy Popsicle Stick Monsters

Materials:

  • Colored Popsicle Sticks (or if you have plain ones, you can paint or color them yourself)
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes
  • Monster Decorations (yarn, beads, buttons, felt, etc.)
  • Assorted Construction paper
  • Scissors

Directions:

Use as many popsicle sticks as desired for the size of the monster you wish (8-10 should be enough).

Glue a stick diagonally on the back so they stay together. Allow your campers to get as creative as they want when making their monster. Encourage them to make hair, eyes, mouth, ears or a nose.

You can glue a magnet on the back to hang on the fridge, or hang them on your front door for trick-or-treaters to enjoy!

Other ideas:

  • Create their favorite characters like Minions, princesses, superheroes or their favorite animals.
  • Use this project for other holidays, including turkeys for Thanksgiving or elves for the winter holidays.
  • Replace the popsicle sticks with a brown paper bag for your camper to use as their personalized trick-or-treat bag.
