As we celebrate the 35 year Anniversary of ESF, it is an opportune time to look back on the entire journey, starting back in 1982.

35 years ago, brothers Michael and Bill Rouse from Haverford, PA searched for summer jobs. They were 15 and 11 years old and loved to play tennis. Together, they created what is now ESF Summer Camps, although originally it began as a 2-week tennis camp at the Haverford School in Pennsylvania. They had a vision to bring amazing experiences to children throughout the summer months and to make a difference in their lives. Their passion for the job and dedication to running a premier summer experience for children led to expansion, improvement and success.

Fast forward to 1991 and ESF expanded to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy in Chestnut Hill where Debbie Russo, now the Director of Programming, started as the first full-time employee. The camp offices relocated to Conshohocken, PA where the Headquarters team currently works full-time to build an amazing summer program each year. Over the years, along with the original Tennis Camp ESF offered Day, Sports, Mini and Senior Camps and opened up site locations in four more states.

Over three and a half decades, ESF provided families with a summer camp for all age ranges, Single Sports programs to satisfy the athlete in every child, and Major Camps for future scientists, engineers and artists. Today, ESF is much more than an organization, company or grouping of seasonal staffers – ESF is a Team committed to making a difference in their communities. The ESF Team has never stopped thinking of the improvements that could be made each year, and they never lose sight of the original goal of ESF: Education, Sports and Fun.

The outreach and development of ESF over the past 35 years provides more and more families with the opportunity to send their child to a summer camp that they will never forget. As ESF celebrates its 35^th anniversary, they are committed to keeping the vision alive and continuing to find new ways to influence campers to dream big!
