Get ready for some amazing True Life Adventures in the summer of 2008, as you take a fantastic journey into the worlds of Cooking, CSI (Camp Scene Investigations), Engineering (Things in Motion), Filmmaking, Songwriting & Music Production, Camp Carnival, Drama & Theater, Outdoor Adventure and more. Each True Life Adventure is uniquely designed for all levels of experience and interest. Variety is the key, as we offer a different adventure each week, with the exception of Drama and Theater which is a two-week adventure.

ESF Studios

This entertaining, one-week TLA unlocks your creative genius and surrounds you with lights, cameras, and lots of action. During this hands-on experience, you will assume the roles of producer, director, camera operator, actor, script writer, costume designer, and more. Working in small “production teams”, you will create your own video from a variety of options. Go on air as a news anchor, star in a zany, impromptu skit or comedy routine, record a camp documentary or perform a lively jingle for a TV commercial, just to name a few!  Practice your lines, learn your cues, select your props, choose your costume, and get ready for the fun when the cameras start rolling!  At the end of the week, you will have the opportunity to show off your filmmaking expertise at The Senior Camp Film Festival.

Gourmet Camper

From cooking up great tasting recipes to feasting on your culinary creations, this popular, taste-bud extravaganza is an excellent choice for campers who want to learn how to prepare their own meals and for those who just appreciate eating scrumptious food. Our Executive Chef will teach you how to create your own meals, while preparing and sampling a wide variety of great recipes. Our NEW menu includes some awesome BBQ and grilling recipes, great salads and side dishes, delectable desert specialties and some frozen concoctions. In addition to those palate-pleasing dishes, you will also learn basic cooking terms, helpful hints, safety tips, menu ideas, and more. The final course of this exciting adventure features a good ol’ fashioned homestyle picnic complete with great food, music and summertime games! So, put on your chef’s hat, roll up your sleeves, and follow us into the kitchen for a week of mouthwatering fun!

Camp Carnival

Through the combined efforts of the entire Senior Camp, this ever-popular, one-week TLA will be non-stop fun from start to finish, as you organize, theme, plan, and ultimately host your very own, memorable Camp Carnival.  Through the magic of teamwork and plenty of creativity, you will gear up for the fun while designing and constructing carnival booths, which include face painting, pie tossing, spin art, skee ball, and other traditional carnival games!  If you've been a part of a Carnival before, get ready for the addition of brand-new booths because this Main Event will be an all-out extravaganza to be enjoyed by fellow campers and counselors alike!

Outdoor Adventure

During this action-packed week, you will embark on a journey of character development and self-discovery. New challenges have been added to this long-time favorite TLA, where cooperative games, trust building activities, and group initiatives provide an opportunity for you and your team to develop the skills that great leaders rely on. Topics include: communication, decision making, problem-solving, goal setting, motivating and inspiring individuals, embracing diversity, and more. Your ultimate challenge will be to conquer the Rock Wall, a forty-foot structure offering multiple climbing routes that will challenge campers of all skill levels under the watchful eye of our instructor and the security of a belay. This incredible adventure will not only be outrageously fun but will also provide you with a formula for success on the expedition of life.

CSI: Camp Scene Investigation

Things have come a long way since the days of Sherlock Holmes! Campers, bring your analytical minds to camp, and join us as we probe the world of mystery and learn the fundamentals of forensic science. During this one-week TLA, you will become part of a team of detectives and participate in a simulated mystery while performing challenging investigative tasks. Learn how to observe and investigate the scene while collecting and analyzing evidence; solve mysterious clues; and perform forensic tests which include footprint casting, fingerprinting, fiber and hair identification, handwriting analysis, ink testing, and more! Once you have gathered your data and uncovered all of the details, you will build a rock solid case. Your team’s ultimate challenge will be to present your findings to the other investigative groups at “The Great Detectives’ Debriefing” and solve The Ultimate Camp Mystery!

Disney's "High School Musical"

Are you ready to join the East High Wildcats of Disney’s High School Musical? This two-week TLA is rich in wonderful roles and hit songs, including "We're All in This Together". Follow your dreams, reach for the stars, and "get'cha head in the game" with this colorful cast of characters including Troy, Gabriella, Sharpey and Ryan. As an actor or actress, singer, dancer or stage crew member, you’ll work together as a team to produce this high-energy, theatrical event, creating costumes and set designs in preparation for its debut! Friends and family are invited to share in the excitement, as you perform in the ESF premiere production of Disney’s High School Musical.

Engineering: Things in Motion

Ever wonder how the Wright Brothers got their first plane to fly? Or what it would be like to be a NASA aerospace scientist or an automotive design engineer? During this NEW, one-week TLA, your scientific and engineering skills will be put to the test as you explore “things in motion” and investigate the natural laws of motion, flight and speed. Through a variety of hands-on projects, you will construct and test your very own aerodynamic land or air model. Your adventure begins as you assemble and theme your creation, ensuring its sound construction, aesthetic appeal and readiness for its maiden voyage. At the end of the week, you will watch your creations “in action” at the inaugural ESF Engineering Extravaganza, and experience the ultimate thrill of individually launching your model and testing it for speed, distance, lift, acceleration and more.
