Swimming

Take the plunge!

Campers plunge into ESF's daily instructional swim program, as they learn basic swim techniques and water safety skills under the supervision and guidance of our Red Cross and YMCA certified lifeguards and instructors. Our low camper to instructor ratio ensures that every child receives the individual attention and quality instruction necessary for a safe and positive learning experience. On each camper's first day, our aquatic staff tests and evaluates your child's swimming skills, ensuring proper placement at the appropriate starting level. Throughout the summer, campers will receive individualized instruction and develop at their own pace while advancing through our progressive skill levels. Levels range from the pre-swimmer level to our more advanced levels that challenge even our most experienced swimmers. Parents are provided with progress reports, which track their child's achievement and mastered skills. As campers progress and complete each skill level, they will receive achievement awards.

Arts & Crafts

A burst of color!

Campers explore various craft techniques and dabble in a wide variety of artistic media in our two exciting programs.

Our NEW “Make-it, Take-it” Crafts Program features hands-on, keepsake craft projects, including tie dye t-shirts, puppets, clay projects, jewelry making, pipe cleaner crafts, scrapbooking, mask making, key rings, treasure boxes, dream catchers, picture frames, decoupage, papier-mâché and more.

Our “Meet the Artist” Classic Art Program introduces campers to the artistic style of a different artist each week. Projects include watercolor, abstract painting, stained glass windows, self portraits, collage, pop up art, origami, pointillism, crayon resist, pastel landscapes, and more.

The NEW Featured Artists for 2008 include:
  • Eric Carle
   • Robert Sambuda
   • Leo Lionni
   • Ed Emberley
   • Marcus Pfister

Sports

Have a ball!

Our program consists of an action-packed line-up of sports; age-appropriate, skill-based instruction; and recreational games. We promote sportsmanship and teamwork while introducing campers to the fundamentals of soccer, basketball, hockey, baseball, flag football, tennis, tee-ball, track and field, whiffle ball, and more. Each week is topped off with exciting sports activities for everyone, and NEW themed athletic tournaments for our older campers including: Kick Ball Mania, Capture the Treasure, Tennis Racquet Baseball, Beach Ball Volleyball, A Flag Football Competition, and The Quest for the Cup!

Project Discovery

Explore science & nature!

Adventure and fun await campers, as Project Discovery “goes green” with an all NEW ecology and nature-based program. Campers will get “hooked-on-nature”, as they explore the great outdoors through age-appropriate, hands-on activities and investigations. Exciting projects include a camp weather station where campers will keep track of the daily temperature and weekly rainfall, and a camp garden where campers will create a special place dedicated to closely observing nature. Campers will also participate in environmental awareness activities such as adopting a tree, embarking on weekly nature
scavenger hunts, creating a camp rock collection, making recycled paper, and bird-watching, just to name a few.

World Tour

A passport to adventure!

Campers go on bold, new adventures in World Tour 2008, as they travel on exclusive expeditions around the world without ever leaving camp! This International Extravaganza exposes campers to a different country and region each week, as they explore various cultures, ethnic traditions, language, geography, music, dance, festivals, outdoor games, folklore, and more! Campers take on NEW “Mission Possible Challenges”, searching the world high and low for the answers to some challenging trivia questions.
The 2008 Itinerary includes:
   • China
   • Mexico
   • Africa
   • Hawaii
   • Washington, DC

Creative & Performing Arts

Sing & dance the days away!

Campers have a foot-stomping, show-stopping good time exploring a variety of melodies, musical instruments, rhythm and rhyme, and dance. They will also learn a variety of traditional Tribe Cheers. As honorary members of our very own Drama Guild, campers will participate in theatrical activities including skits, improvisation, karaoke, charades, storytelling, puppetry, and more.
