In 2006, ESF launched an exclusive “counselor apprenticeship” initiative for 16 and 17 year-old alumni campers at Dream Camp Philadelphia–the Young Leaders Program (YLP) -- to engage these young adults in a one-of-a kind social action and leadership development program. The overwhelmingly positive response to YLP prompted ESF to expand the program to other ESF locations.
How you can become a member of the Young Leaders Program:
STEP 1: Site Directors identify and nominate former campers who demonstrated a commitment to community service, and who displayed strong leadership abilities during their camp experience.
STEP 2: Nominees then undergo a competitive application process. This process provides valuable written and oral communications experience.
STEP 3: If selected, YLP's have the unique opportunity to participate in ESF’s world-class training and an exclusive YLP team-building experience. Under the guidance and supervision of seasoned ESF leaders, YLP participants experience extraordinary personal and professional growth as they engage in self-reflection and participate in weekly workshops.
